An ever so slightly ‘tongue in cheek’ humorous version of this work from Handel’s ‘Messiah’. It uses a quartet of soloists including Solo Cornet, Tenor Horn, Euphonium and BBb Bass (or EEb). The piece is suitable for Christmas concerts, and indeed the major work is normally performed at this festive time.
The cymbals player stands with his cymbals at the ready throughout the whole piece but doesn’t actually get to play them..! The trombones get a laugh too. The whole thing requires the band to ‘act up’ somewhat, and the score and parts have instructions on what to do and when…!
